Another woman that Neptune had the hots for was the Goddess of agriculture, Ceres, and like most of Neptune’s love affairs it was strange to say the least. Ceres was in a temple mourning the death of her beloved daughter Proserpina and that is when Neptune came along and Ceres caught his eye. Aware that she was being observed by Neptune the Goddess abandoned her daughter and fled in the form of a horse and hid among a pack of horses. Despite Ceres’ efforts of evasion, Neptune kept his eye on the prize so to speak. Being a crafty God himself, Neptune transformed himself into a robust stallion and sought out the glorious Goddess. It did not take long before Neptune found his beautiful mare, and it took even less time for the God to have his way with Ceres in the form of a horse. The two parted ways, Neptune feeling satisfied and Ceres feeling outraged and disgusted with her fellow Olympian. As a result of the God’s intercourse, Ceres gave birth to the magnificent horse Aerion as well as to the Goddess of fascinating Goddess of fertility, Despoena.
