After Jupiter freed his siblings, Jupiter and Neptune began planning to overthrow their father Saturnus. The first thing that the brothers did was go to the Underworld to free the Cyclopes. The motive in doing this was to gain the support of the Cyclops and the Giants in their battle against Saturnus and the Titans. As a result for their kindness, the Cyclopes gave Jupiter his thunderbolts, he gave Neptune his trident, and he gave their other brother Pluto the helm of darkness. The battle between the soon to be Olympians, and Saturnus raged on for ten long years known as the Titanomachy. It was not until after years of fighting the Olympians were finally able to get the upper hand. Using his helm of darkness, Pluto was able to stealthily get into the room of Saturnus and steal all of his weapons. With Saturnus unarmed, Neptune entered and stabbed Saturnus with his newly acquired trident. While all of this was happening Jupiter entered and struck his father with a lightning bolt causing him to die. Without Saturnus’ leadership, it was only a matter of time before the Titan’s would fall to the Olympians. And so, after ten long years of battle, the fighting ceased leaving Saturnus’ offspring in control. So Jupiter took the role of Saturnus as head of the God’s, Neptune took his place as the God of the sea, and Pluto became the God of the Underworld. And that is how the three head God’s on Mount Olympus came to be.
